At Adventure Code, your safety (and the safety of our team and partners) is a core part of how we design and run experiences. This page explains what we do to manage risk and what we ask of you so that activities can be enjoyable, supportive and safe.
If you have any questions before booking or attending, please contact us via https://adventurecodeuk.com/pages/contact-us.
1) Our approach to safety
We aim to provide experiences that are appropriately challenging, well-planned and responsibly delivered. Depending on the trip/event, this may include:
Pre-event information so you know what to expect
Screening/eligibility questions (where relevant)
Qualified leaders, guides or facilitators
Site briefings and clear participant instructions
Suitable safety equipment and logistics planning
Emergency planning, comms, and incident procedures
Working with reputable local/third-party providers where needed
Please note: all outdoor and travel experiences carry inherent risk. We reduce risks where reasonably possible, but we cannot remove them entirely.
2) Participant responsibility (what we need from you)
To help keep everyone safe, you agree to:
Provide accurate information when asked (e.g., medical, fitness, experience level)
Read pre-trip instructions and safety briefings
Follow guidance from Adventure Code staff and any third-party guides/facilitators
Dress/pack appropriately for the environment and conditions
Behave respectfully and responsibly (including towards wildlife, other participants, and local communities)
Tell us immediately if you feel unwell, unsafe, or unable to continue
We may refuse participation, pause an activity, or require a participant to stop if safety is at risk.
3) Health, fitness and medical considerations
Some events can be physically and/or mentally demanding. You are responsible for ensuring you are fit to participate.
You should seek medical advice before booking or attending if you have concerns, including (but not limited to):
Heart or respiratory conditions (including asthma)
Epilepsy, fainting episodes, or severe migraines
Recent surgery or injury
Severe allergies (especially anaphylaxis)
Pregnancy
Conditions affected by exertion, altitude, temperature, or cold water
Any mental health condition that could be affected by intense experiences, group work, breathwork, cold exposure, or sleep disruption
If you have allergies or require medication (e.g., inhaler, EpiPen, insulin), you must bring it with you and keep it accessible.
We are not a medical provider. Unless explicitly stated for a specific event, we do not provide clinical care. If you disclose medical or wellbeing information, it is used only to support safe participation and planning.
4) Water activities, cold exposure and breathwork (if included)
Some Adventure Code experiences may involve activities like cold water immersion, breathwork, sauna, or similar wellbeing practices.
These activities can carry specific risks (e.g., dizziness, panic response, fainting, hypothermia). Where included:
You will receive a clear briefing on safe participation
You must not push beyond your limits
You must follow facilitator instructions at all times
You should avoid participation if you have relevant contraindications (we’ll provide event-specific guidance where applicable)
Never combine breath-holding practices with water activities unless explicitly supervised and instructed by qualified professionals.
5) Outdoor, terrain and weather risks
Outdoor conditions can change quickly. Risks may include:
Slips, trips and falls on uneven ground
Heat/cold exposure, wind chill, sunburn
Poor visibility, storms, or flooding
Remote locations with limited phone signal
Wildlife/insects (including stings and ticks)
We may adjust, shorten, reroute, or cancel parts of an itinerary if conditions are unsafe.
6) Travel and accommodation (if included)
For trips involving travel and/or accommodation:
You are responsible for arriving on time at agreed meeting points
You must ensure you hold valid documents/requirements (e.g., ID, visas, insurance) where relevant
You must follow local laws, accommodation rules, and safety instructions
You should secure your personal belongings; we are not responsible for loss/theft unless caused by our negligence
7) Alcohol, drugs and unacceptable behaviour
For safety reasons:
You must not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol during activities
Illegal drugs are prohibited
Aggressive, reckless, discriminatory, or harassing behaviour will not be tolerated
We may remove participants from an activity/event without refund where behaviour creates risk or serious disruption.
8) Equipment and kit
We may recommend or require specific kit (e.g., footwear, waterproofs, helmet, headtorch). You are responsible for bringing required items unless we explicitly provide them.
If equipment is provided, you agree to:
Use it as instructed
Report faults/damage immediately
Return it in reasonable condition (fair wear and tear excepted)
9) Emergencies and incidents
If something goes wrong, we may:
Provide first aid within the limits of on-site capability
Contact emergency services or local medical providers
Arrange evacuation or transport (where appropriate)
Any costs that arise due to medical treatment, evacuation, changes to travel, or participant decisions may be your responsibility unless otherwise stated.
10) Insurance
We strongly recommend suitable insurance where relevant (especially for trips, travel, or higher-risk outdoor activities). Insurance should cover, where applicable:
Medical treatment
Outdoor activities included in your itinerary
Cancellation/curtailment
Personal belongings
Repatriation (for international trips)
11) Your questions & disclosures
If you’re unsure whether an experience is right for you, please contact us before booking.

You will follow safety briefings and instructions
You will disclose relevant information that could affect safe participation
